Copyright and IP complaints
This page explains how to tell us that something in Kai-zo-ro infringes your copyright, trade mark or other intellectual-property right, and what we do about it. It is part of our Terms of Service (Section 13).
1. What this covers
Kai-zo-ro is a small app, and the amount of content players can publish is deliberately small too. Being specific here is more useful to you than a long generic policy, so:
- Hero names are the only thing a player can currently write that other players see — on leaderboards you've opted into, in friend requests, and in a friends list.
- Custom avatars and profile backgrounds are not covered, because they never leave the player's own device. Kai-zo-ro stores those images locally in the browser's storage and never uploads them to us or shows them to anyone else. There is nothing for us to take down.
- Player-proposed quests are not live yet. If and when they launch, they will be reviewed by a person before anyone else sees them, and they will fall under this page.
- The app's own art, text and design are ours or licensed to us — third-party components are listed at ascendquests.com/licenses/. If you believe we have used your work there, use this same process.
For content that is unlawful but not an IP problem — harassment, impersonation, offensive names — use the reporting routes on our Support page and our Community Guidelines. You can also report a hero directly in the app.
2. How to send a complaint
Email ascendhelps@gmail.com with the subject line "IP complaint". You do not need to be a player to write to us.
So that we can act without having to come back to you, please include:
- Your name and how to reach you — an email address is enough, and a phone number or postal address if you have one.
- What work you own, or which right you hold. If it is registered — a trade mark, for example — the registration number and country help a lot.
- Where the problem is in Kai-zo-ro. For a hero name, the exact name and, if you have it, the player's friend code or the leaderboard and date where you saw it. We cannot search for "someone using my brand" without something concrete.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your report is accurate, and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them. Under US law this statement is made under penalty of perjury; we ask for it from everyone so that one process works wherever you are.
- Your signature — typing your full name at the end of the email is fine, electronic or physical both count.
Please send only what is needed to identify the problem. Do not send us sensitive personal data you do not have to.
3. What we do with it
A person reads every complete report — Kai-zo-ro is run by one developer, so please allow a few working days rather than expecting an answer within hours. We will:
- acknowledge your report;
- look at the material you identified and decide whether the complaint is justified;
- if it is, remove or reset the material — for a hero name this normally means resetting the name and, where appropriate, hiding the leaderboard entry, in line with Terms Section 6;
- tell the affected player what was done and why, so they can respond;
- keep a record of the report and of what we did.
If a report is incomplete, we will say what is missing rather than ignore it. We may decline a report that is clearly not an IP matter, and we will explain why.
4. If we got it wrong
If your hero name was reset or your account was restricted because of an IP complaint and you think that was a mistake, reply to the email we sent you, or write to ascendhelps@gmail.com. Tell us:
- what was removed or changed;
- why you believe it did not infringe anyone's rights — for example that it is your own name, your own brand, a coincidence, or that you have permission;
- your name and contact details.
We will look again. If we agree we were wrong, we will restore what we can and tell you. If the two sides disagree about who holds a right, that is a dispute between them and not something we can decide — we will say so plainly rather than pretend otherwise.
5. Repeat infringement
We end accounts that repeatedly infringe other people's intellectual-property rights. "Repeatedly" means more than one justified complaint, judged in context — an honest mistake corrected once is not the same as a pattern.
6. Abusing this process
Sending deliberately false complaints to get someone's name taken away is itself a breach of our Terms, and in some countries it carries legal consequences for the sender. We may refuse to act on reports from a source that has repeatedly sent complaints we found to be baseless.
7. Where complaints go
All intellectual-property complaints go to ascendhelps@gmail.com, which is read by the operator.
Kai-zo-ro has not registered a designated agent with the United States Copyright Office, and this page does not claim the protection of the US DMCA safe harbour. We handle IP complaints because it is the right thing to do and because our Terms require it, not because a particular statutory scheme obliges us to. If that changes, this section will be updated with the agent's details.
8. Trade marks and impersonation
A hero name that uses your brand, or that pretends to be you or your organisation, can be reported through this same process. Impersonation also breaks our Community Guidelines on hero names, so it can be reported in-app by any player as well.
9. Contact
Kai-zo-ro is developed and operated by Ludvík Šajtar, an independent developer based in the Czech Republic. Kai-zo-ro is not a registered company, so there is no company number or registered business address to disclose. Every kind of request, including this one, goes to ascendhelps@gmail.com.
